Ephemeral Thoughts: Libertarianism

What's the linky to this one?

Oops. How did I miss posting the link? I fixed it. It's at the bottom of the post.

You can't trust either of the major parties, and if any of the minor ones ever become major, you would no longer be able to trust them either. Power does something to people. Once they get to Washington and they get a taste of the power that comes with the wielding of influence, they literally become deranged. That's why the people were meant to be in charge and government was meant to be limited. The more power you give them the worse they get. I don't even call myself a conservative any more, nor do I automatically hate all things described as liberal, though I might quibble with the accuracy of such definitions in both cases. I call myself a Federalist. Let the states run their own affairs and confine the federal government to the powers expressly granted them in the constitution and things won't be perfect, but they would be infinitely better than what they are.

By the way, your individual pages are hell to load, though the main page ain't so bad. Could be my isp, it's kind of shitty. But I'll suffer through one more individual page load long enough to link your post about shit and religions. That was cool.

    Patrick,

Thanks for the heads up on the slow page load. I deactivated and deleted the "related posts" plugin. I also removed the "save/share" button on the single pages. I'm hoping that will speed things up. I'd sure appreciate feedback.

Sorry, but I can't help out with an adequate definition of libertarianism. Me, I'm a proud radical green socialist and proud of it!

Welcome on board. That was my exact reasoning about 12 years ago.
Remember, there are Libertarians with a capital "L" and a small "l". I am the later -- not committed to the official party. I use it to inform my thinking. (Hey, I just noticed, I am in your side links -- thanks)

    Sabio,

I noticed your comment at "Exploring the Matrix" and it really resonated with me. So I went to your blog, saw that you are a Buddhist, and added you instantly. :)

River, it must have worked. This page loaded faster than the main page, in fact. The main page still loads okay, too. That's the problem with all this different links and aps, they might be useful, but they have their drawbacks.

I'm glad the site is moving more quickly for you. I made the background image smaller. I removed my Google Reader sharing widget from the sidebar. And I think I'll start using a "read more" tag on posts with videos so that they don't bog down the front page.
