Ephemeral Thoughts: Nom de Plumage Change

  • The Rambling Taoist · 5 months ago
As a Taoist, I love water too -- both as a metaphor and as a substance. I can sit on the beach in my county for hours on end, simply watching the waves come and go. The Willapa River can be seen both from the front & the back of my house and not a day goes by when I don't look at it. So River, glad to know ya...again.

P.S. I don't have any qualms whatsoever about folks knowing my real name (Trey) or not. That said, I know that each person's circumstances are different.

I'm probably being overly cautious, but my employers are sticklers about appearances, especially for managers. If they thought that my authority could be implicitly undermined by my employees having read my personal ramblings, they would not hesitate to offer me an ultimatum.

"River" is a nice name to use, and does, because of a river's ephemeral nature, suit your domain name here.

I think it's a wise precaution if there is any possibility it could cause you problems sometime in the future. There have been quite a number of problems for bloggers with their employers here in the UK; I'm sure it must be the same in the USA. My wife very nearly lost her job in the school where she has worked for many years because of a picture someone else had posted on her FaceBook wall -- her privacy settings are very different now.

I'm no longer on Facebook I'm no longer on Twitter. I'm hoping the Google cache clears it's web history sooner rather than later. :)
